Mutual funds gainer of ₹6,000 crore via SIPs in December-2017


1) Retail investors are preferring systematic investment plan (SIP) option for investing in mutual funds as the industry garnered over ₹6,200 crore.

2) As per the latest data, the industry garnered about ₹6,222 crore last month through SIPs as against ₹3,973 crore collected in December 2016.

3) The industry added over 9.2 lakh SIP accounts each month on an average, with an average size of over ₹3,300 per account .

4) Overall, investors infused over ₹2.3 lakh crore in mutual fund schemes in 2017. And more than ₹59,000 crore invested through SIPs alone.

5) Currently, mutual funds have nearly two crore SIP accounts through which investors regularly invest in Indian mutual fund schemes.

6) Cumulatively mutual funds mobilized Rs 59,482 crore through SIPs in calendar year 2017 as compared to Rs 40,000 crore in the previous year.
